· Public realm over the private realm
· Communities’ identity
· Mix use and reactivation of urban voids

Journey as a place
By diluting the boundary between outside and inside THE JOURNEY BECOMES A PLACE in the interstitial space.
Today the city is understood as composition of solids and voids, where the architecture delimits the solids, becoming an airtight container of activity. The pathways and the places of permanence are seen as antonyms provoking that architecture and urbanism are distant instead of complementary.
What happens then, if architecture is deployed, and instead of being seen as a mass is defined as a surface that directs movement and activity?
The bounding surfaces of a conventional block are opened and unfolded, creating an inter-dependence between the mass and void. As a result, a chain of empty spaces arises: spaces susceptible of appropriation. The journey expands and compresses, forgetting their limits in the interstitial space.
We propose a new relationship between the outside and the inside, a new diagram of relationships, where activity extends to the outside and the vacuum becomes the compositional element for the public realm.
The traditional block is opened to expand the activity outside the building. As a theoretical analogy, the different types of activities were seen as different types of movement in the three states of matter: solid, liquid, gas.
1. Linear Park
2. Pedestrian Promenade
5. Internal Street
Under this premise, the project sets the space through movement, diluting the boundary between outside and inside: the journey becomes a place.
This continuous surface forms a heterogeneous network where the architecture is defined as a moving means. Thus, the surfaces begin to mold the type of activity, closing or opening according to the scale of congregation that they create.
The residual green stripe with no activity becomes a
Through a raised platform, the connection between eastern hills and the model is created.
This fosters continuous flow and social encounter
Replicating the dynamics of the city, main roads are proposed, whose character is defined by the activity from the private sphere of the public realm.
It proposes a sloping pay east ' west, which articulate all the blocks in the project
Gateway break the block, so that an interstitial route is created from a chain of voids in-between the buildings
The current path is maintained, improving pedestrian connection. Acces to underground parking is provided
This conceptual model was tested in the area of Fenicia, Bogotá, where we redesign nine blocks. A pedestrian walkway described a journey from the hills to the third avenue, making a transition between the urban and natural environment, promoting the moderate appropriation of the main ecological structure.
The new urban proposal pretends to articulate Los Andes University, Jorge Tadeo Lozano University La Paz district and Fenicia District, by creating a place of high flow and activity. In each new open block, we accommodated different uses, including a cultural and sport center and temporary residences (University’s dormitories, artistic residences, hostels, etc).
The public realm becomes the axis of the project, and the buildings are mold according to the paths.
